(California Ports busy this month)….CBP releases numbers for the first half of October.
Customs and Border Protection conducted several hundred enforcement actions from October 1 through October 16th. The violations were intercepted within the San Diego Field Office, which includes border crossings at San Ysidro, Otay Mesa, Tecate, Calexico and Andrade., as well as the airports and seaports in the area. During the first half of the month, CBP officers stopped 155 incidents of attempted narcotics smuggling, totaling 20,246 pounds of marijuana, heroin, cocaine and methamphetamine. 1,111 inadmissible aliens were prevented from entering the US illegally. 92 individuals were captured with felony warrants. CBP Ag Specialists issued 38 civil penalties for failure to declare prohibited plants or animal products. Officers even helped deliver two babies in the San Diego area.
