(It was a massacre)….Over 50 dead sheep.
They were discovered Friday in Wellton. The Yuma County Sheriff’s office was called at around 7:00 am Friday. They responded to the Main Canal on East County 13th Street and South Avenue 28E in Wellton. The deputies encountered the reporting party, who told them that over 100 sheep were found in the canal. The deputies say about half the sheep were found deceased. The Sheriff’s office called the Department of Agriculture Animal Services, the Bureau of Land Management and others to investigation the situation. They located the owner of the sheep and, they say, charges are pending. The investigation is continuing.
