(IID alerting consumers)…Another fraudulent scam is being reported across the nation.

Utility consumers are reporting telephone calls or personal contact from individuals posing as utility employees. The individuals threaten the consumer to turn off their electricity if the customer does not immediately provide financial information. The Imperial Irrigation wants to inform customers this is not how they operate. They seldom call customers over electric bills, and they never request credit or any other personal information. If an account is delinquent, the IID notifies you in writing. If you feel a scam is underway, contact the IID and report it as soon as possible. Never provide financial information over the phone, email or in any other fashion, unless you initiated the conversation.
