El Centro Fire Department Battalion Chief Cedric Cesena says that seven people were displaced by the Friday morning house fire.

The fire was reported at 8:41 a.m. Friday and the first ECFD unit arrived just four minutes later to find heavy smoke and fire showing from the single-family residence. A request for mutual aid was made and additional personnel and equipment from Imperial County Fire responded. Initially , three residents were unaccounted for and firefighters launched an aggressive search and rescue operation. At the same time firefighters were able to attack the fire, ventilate the building and extinguish the flames. All seven residents of the house were eventually accounted for and no civilians or firefighters were injured. According to Chief Cesena , a total of three engine companies , one Quick Response Vehicle , three Chief Officers from the City of El Centro responded with 16 firefighters. Imperial County Fire provided 5 additional firefighters. Red Cross case workers were on the scene providing assistance to the seven residents and two pets that were displaced by the fire. ECFD investigators are currently working to determine the cause of the fire.
