KXO & KXO-FM Annual EEO Public File Report

The purpose of the EEO Public File Report (“Report”) is to comply with Section 73.2080(c)(6) of the FCC’s EEO Rule. This Report has been prepared on behalf of the Station Employment Unit that is comprised of the following stations: KXO and KXO-FM in El Centro, California and is required to be placed in the public inspection files of these stations, and posted on their website, if they have a website.

The information contained in this Report covers the time period beginning July 16th, 2014 to and including July 15th, 2015 (the “Applicable Period”).

The FCC’s EEO Rule requires that this Report contain the following information:

  1. A list of all full-time vacancies filled by the Stations comprising the Station Employment Unit during the Applicable Period;
  2. For each such vacancy, the recruitment source(s) utilized to fill the vacancy (including, if applicable, organizations entitled to notification pursuant to Section 73.2080(c)(1)(ii) of the EEO Rule, which should be separately identified) identified by name, address, contact person and telephone number;
  3. The recruitment source that referred the hiree for each full-time vacancy during the Applicable Period;
  4. Data reflecting the total number of persons interviewed for full-time vacancies during the Applicable Period and the total number of interviewees referred by each recruitment source utilized in connection with such vacancies; and
  5. A list and brief description of the initiatives undertaken pursuant to Section 73.2080(c)(2) of the FCC rules.

Appendices 1, 2, and 3, which follow, have been designed, in the aggregate, to provide the required information. Please note that the numbers listed on Appendix 2 under the column entitled “Full-time Positions for Which This Source Was Utilized” refer to the number of the full-time job positions listed on Appendix 1.

For purposes of this Report, a vacancy was deemed “filled” not when the offer was extended, but when the hiree accepted the job offer. A person was deemed “interviewed” whether he or she was interviewed in person and/or over the telephone.

Appendix 3 to Annual EEO Public File Report

Comprising Station Employment Unit: KXO and KXO-FM

Section 3: Supplemental (Non-Vacancy Specific) Recruitment Activities Undertaken by KXO and KXO-FM.

   

  1. Imperial Valley College 2014 Career Fair/ College and University Day “Expanding Opportunities in Higher Education and Careers” was held on Thursday, October 9th, 2014 from 10:00 am ‘til I:00 pm inside and outside the college gym. Over 50 employers, 25 colleges and universities participated. Over 2100 college students, high school seniors, and community members attended the event.Gene Brister, President and General Manager of KXO, set up a table display in the gym. The booth featured descriptions of all job possibilities at the stations, requirements and responsibilities. He discussed all job descriptions with all interested parties. He explained we had no job openings at the present time, but individuals were welcome to drop off resumes at our booth or drop by our studios and fill out a job application, resume and place it on file. Traffic was heavy at our booth. He had over 245 entries in a drawing for a pair of San Diego Zoo tickets and a pair of Wild Animal Park tickets.KXO and KXO-FM co-sponsored the entire Imperial Valley College 2014 Career Fair/College and University Day event. 
  2. On Friday, March 27th, 2015 KXO President and General Manager, Gene Brister participated in the Calipatria “Hornet Alumni Career Day” at the Bill Young Middle School. The event was held on the campus of middle school in classroom settings between 9:05 and 11:40 a.m.  Mr. Brister made four presentations, each approximately 40 minutes long, to sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students. He presented information on careers in radio. Approximately 10 minutes per session was devoted to questions and answers. Each session averaged 30 students. 
  3. On Wednesday, April 1st, 2015 KXO Vice President Carroll Buckley was a presenter at the Brawley Union High School’s “Todays Steps, Tomorrow’s Success Career Day”.The event was held on the campus Brawley High School between 7:45 and 11:30 am.

    Mr. Buckley provided information to freshman through junior High School students concerning careers in broadcasting, both radio and television, and the type of training and education needed for a broadcasting career. Mr. Buckley made the presentation to four forty-five minute sessions.
